I am an interdisciplinary artist who keenly observes the world. I look to
hidden places finding interest and fascination, collecting material for
inspiration and manipulation. I record sounds, images and ideas to
compose into performances, installations and sound art, layering multiple
elements, colliding, often jarring and distorted. I enjoy working both alone
and collaboratively building up work intuitively, editing ideas and material
led by the process of devising. During this process a narrative can start to
become evident, often surprising me, sometimes revealing things about
me and about the world.
My physical presence is key to the making and the experience of my
work. I challenge myself during durational mark-making, walking and
repetitive body actions that aim for a heightened state of concentration. In
this state I try to become open to the emotional and the subconscious
layers of myself as an individual, and wider social and cultural contexts.
I like to disrupt with the hope of creating something unexpected, offering
work that is open to interpretation, work that is impermanent with the
memory of the experience being the lasting outcome for the audience.
